I have some work that will be showing in two separate shows coming up at the end of January. My short film, The Pain with Being Thirsty, will be part of an exhibition at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) here in San Francisco. The show is called Decoding Identity: I Do It For My People, and features the work of 20 International artists all engaging with the dynamic tension between individual and collective identities. The exhibition will be on view from January 23– March 8 and the opening will take place on Friday, January 23, from 8-10:30 pm. I will also be participating in an Artist Panel on Saturday, January 24, from 2-4 pm. Click for directions to the museum.
I also will be showing a new body of work entitled i don't know where i've been that combines photography, video, graphic design, and installation. The pieces in the show highlight the way in which the proliferation of photography and video has impacted the way we remember. These works will be on view at Micaela Gallery from January 20-February 28 with an opening to coincide with First Thursdays on February 5, from 5-7:30 pm. I created a show catalog (that includes an essay writen by Ming Mui) that can be viewed at www.davidmyun.com/catalog. Click for directions to the gallery.
If you are interested in reading more about these shows, you can view this press release which contains more information about my works included in these shows.
